DIRECTOR & PRODUCER:
Thomas A Østbye is a distinctive artist and filmmaker. His films, including Take #2, Imagining Emanuel, Human and In your dreams combine artistic reflections on the documentary genre with contemporary political dilemmas. His art work is bought by the Arts Council Norway, broadcasted, screened at Hotdocs and MoMA NY and received a number of art and film awards, including CPH:DOX Award.
Acclaimed Indonesian director Edwin was nominated for Golden Bear at Berlinale 2012 with his latest film Postcards From The Zoo. His first feature Blind Pig Who Wants to Fly received the FIPRESCI Prize at the International Film Festival Rotterdam 2009, and his short film Kara, Anak Sebatang Pohon was the first Indonesian film to be shown on the Director’s Fortnight in Cannes 2005.
Paramita Nath (Canada/India) is a documentarian working in both traditional and emerging forms of media. Her award winning shorts Found (2009) and Durga (2012) have toured the world. She has worked on several interactive documentaries, most notably NFB’s HIGHRISE project. She is currently developing a feature documentary about the global arms trade.
PROGRAMMING / DESIGN:
Helios Design Labs is an interdisciplinary design studio located at the intersection of art and technology. We design experiences that combine the art of traditional storytelling with new and emerging technologies in web, mobile and animation. While we have strong technical capabilities, we believe in using technology to help tell a better story, not just for its own sake.
Thomas Østbye PlymSerafin produce formally challenging documentary films and art projects. We want to contribute to a sincere and uncompromising deepening of man's relation to the world. Our productions have reached a varied field: from film festivals where they have received a dozen awards including Cph:Dox Award, art awards including Prix Franqais and broadcasting nominations including Prix Europa.

is an interactive documentary experiment in image making. Set in the Indonesian museum park called
Taman Mini Indonesia Indah
Beautiful Indonesia Miniature Park
—a manicured synopsis of the country’s 17,000 islands—the project explores models of reality by looking at how an image of a nation is created and how documentary filmmaking takes part in this process.
was built by the Suharto regime in the 1970s to represent the idea of a diverse country living in harmony under a national ideology—regardless of the opposite reality. In 1998, the corrupt regime was overturned, but the park remains open and popular. While the majority of people see it simply as an amusement park, to some it represents a painful manifestation of past militarist and conformist propaganda.
Fascinated by this idealized representation of culture, directors Edwin and Thomas Østbye set out with a camera to capture life unfolding within this controlled setting. Their film is presented here as an archipelago of impressions.
